Mission

The mission of the Council is to improve prevention and care of Hyperuricemia & its comorbid conditions in Pakistan by increasing Public and Physicians ‘awareness.

There exists significant evidence that elevated uric acid level is independent risk factor for metabolic disorders. Worldwide substantial researches are being conducted to know the role of uric acid in different diseases in order to formulate treatment protocols.

Goals

The goals of Hyperuricemia Advisory Council (HAC), Pakistan are:

  • To raise awareness of the burden and adverse clinical consequences of hyperuricaemia through Continuing Medical Education (CMEs)
  • To review the evidence that has linked hyperuricaemia with major chronic diseases
  • To demonstrate the efficacy of urate lowering therapies in reducing urate levels, preventing gout flares, and modifying cardiovascular and renal risk
  • To promote the development of Clinical Guidelines for Hyperuricaemia & Gout Management

Objectives

  • HAC will develop a team of faculty who would conduct CMEs in their region.
  • HAC will gather & develop Hyperuricemia data through screening a sample of local population.
  • HAC will develop liaison with reputed local laboratories for screening of Uric Acid.
  • HAC will conduct CMEs on Hyperuricemia across Pakistan.
  • HAC will conduct international speaker program on Hyperuricemia for development of local faculty.

Agenda

  • HAC will organize accredited CMEs across Pakistan for clinicians in order to make them expert on the subject
  • HAC will publish Hyperuricemia awareness material in medical & general periodicals for education of clinicians & general public.
  • HAC will conduct Public Awareness Sessions for general public in order to educate them about Hyperuricemia and its consequences.

  • HAC will conduct Data gathering on all Hyperuricemic conditions through screening camps
  • HAC will formulate Hyperuricemia Treatment Guidelines in Pakistan
